The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) was established in 2003 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with the aim of improving the quality of medical education and creating a globally competitive institution. The university was founded as part of an educational reform initiative to modernize the healthcare education system and meet international standards.
Over the years, IHSM has grown into a well-recognized medical university, attracting students from different countries and focusing on high-quality academic training, research, and clinical practice. To expand its educational reach and provide a more student-friendly learning environment, IHSM established the Issyk-Kul Campus in 2017 in the scenic town of Cholpon-Ata, near the famous Issyk-Kul Lake.
The Issyk-Kul campus was developed as a modern extension of the main university, offering the same curriculum, academic standards, and medical training as the central campus in Bishkek. It was designed especially to accommodate international students and provide a peaceful, focused atmosphere for medical studies.
